Nintendo Gives Hot Spots
Published by Budda June 8th, 2005 in Gadgets, Wi-Fi, Consoles & Video Gaming, Handhelds. To encourage users of the DS to play games via WiFi the mighty Nintendo is planning to set up as many as 1,000 WiFi hotspots, in Japan.
The hotspots will be in locations such as toy stores and department stores, enabling retailers to demo WiFi games. Nintendo also plans to roll out hotspots in other markets as well, though no timetable has been set.
It’s suspected that these WiFi points will probably use the proprietary wireless protocol in the Nintendo DS, however you can use it on any regular hotspots when you own one.
