O'Reilly continue their engrossing technology 'zine with volume 2. This issue gives the theme of "home entertainment" centre stage with some interesting reading for the inquisitive do-it-yourselfer.
For those who missed volume 1 of this blog inspired magazine from O'Reilly publishing you're just in time to catch up! It's a quarterly publication - if you like to tweak, disassemble, re-create, and invent new uses for technology, you'll love this!
MAKE magazine brings together those weird and wonderful projects you read about on random blogs across the Internet, or maybe miss out on. Taking a different angle than your main-stream press magazines such as T3 or Stuff, the articles are by normal folk, doing home gadget DIY things.
For instance, this volume covers building your own high definition video recorder, how to podcast, making a robot from an old computer mouse, reconditioning an old amplifie, to name just a few of the items!
Although some of the articles are just plain crazy, and just for amusement, such as the Giant Madagascan Hissing Cockroach powered robot (!), other articles offer practical advice and inspiration for your own gadget hacking ideas.
There's tonnes of content that should cover an interest for everybody. A full listing of the contents can be found on the MakeZine website. As you'll see, the magazine is backed up by a very active blog to keep you entertained until the next issue is out.
Good news for UK buyers too, you can pick up a copy from Amazon.co.uk for just ã6.96. Highly recommended read!
