Memory Stick Duo Video Recorder

Published by GadgetSpy August 7th, 2005 in Gadgets, Consoles & Video Gaming, Handhelds.

The memory stick duo video recorder allows you to record TV and movies directly to the memory stick thus saving time and hassle of converting.

150 minutes - 320×240, 30fps, 768kbps/128kbps, Stereo
270 minutes - 320×240, 15fps, 384kbps/128kbps, Stereo
530 minutes - 320×240, 15fps, 192kbps/64kbps, Stereo
1070 minutes - 116×112, 15fps, 96kbps/32kbps, Mono

The minute measurements are given for a 1GB memory stick.

So using the highest quality at 30 frames per second you get two and a half hours on a 1gig memory stick which isn’t bad at all. Dropping the fps and then sound quality sees this reduce greatly, with the lowest quality allowing over 17 hours worth.

According to Gizmodo “Price will be around $105, but unfortunately the outlook is grim for a United States release. Japan only folks.” :(
