The topic of convergence in technology has brought us some great bits of kit. But how do you know when it has gone too far? Introducing the Hammacher Schlemmer’s radio toaster.

It’s a toaster, as you might have guessed, coupled with a built-in FM radio “for convenient news, traffic, or music as you prepare breakfast”.

The silver brushed-metal housing features easy-to-read radio controls and multiple toasting settings, including Bagel and Thaw, as well as six thermostat levels (from Low to High).

So you’ll never miss a thing on the radio whilst getting your Bagel perfectly toasted!

It seems kind of stupid, but if you have a small pokey kitchen it might just be the thing you need to get a radio in there. Measuring 8 3/4″ H x 11″ W x 6 1/2″ D , the unit plugs into the mains power only. One lacking feature I noted for a new radio these days is DAB compatibility. Where is it?
