Apple iTunes 5 For Sony PSP - Sneak Peek

iTunes 5 running on PSP

There has been a lot of talk about Apple porting iTunes over to other platforms and hardware, and one of the big rumors was a version of iTunes for Sony's PSP.

A site claiming to have pictures of a very early build of Apples iTunes 5 for the Sony PSP has been showing off some pictures.

Sony has been one of the sticking points when it comes to the iTunes Music Store, but it seems that they would be far more interested in working with Apple if it benefited their own products in some way. Well, if there was a version of iTunes for PSP, and if people could buy songs from the iTunes Music Store directly onto their PSP, that might give the PSP more value, which would be a good thing for Sony.

The page author claims to have answered readers questions, yet I see no where a mention of an email address for the author? This would indicate it's a bit of a cowards fake :-)

One of the photos does look well done, if they are fakes. You can see the reflection of the photographer in the help screen photo.

From the site FAQ's:

That iTunes player looks totally fake. What gives?
As I said, the player is an obvious beta, so I'm sure the interface at this point is more "Try and see what works" than an actual finished interface. The play button there by itself looks odd, but putting the forward and back arrows would be pointless, since you can't push them or interact with them, and you don't need the visual clue. Also, the search box seems to be too far to the right, and the entire balance looks a bit off due to how the info area is skewed more to the left.

The site can be found at http://gomorning.com/psp/itunespsp/. I wouldn't hold your breath for a real iTunes on the Sony PSP just yet.

It's possible that it's not actually a program running on the PSP, but actually just a photo zoomed to take up the whole screen. I'm sure a snapshot of iTunes could be photoshopped to look like that...

fake! The "reflection" of the photographer extends past the screen, and can be seen superimposed on the the nonreflective PSP case.

In the help screen photo, there is an error that makes me think this is a fake. it says "©2005 Apple Computers."

heh, Yeup. And i have an origional gameboy with a 256k colour screen that runs FreeBSD with KDE. Wanna see pics? ;-)

that isnt fake guys, its the real thing, they have a section for UMD

It will never hapen. apple will never make a iTunes version compatable with the PSP, Pocket PC, or Palm Handhelds. Think of there iPod sales, they will drop and nobody will buy iPods anymore. The PSP is cheaper and does a lot more stuff than the iPod. If they do make a iTunes for PSP it will not be free. iTunes for PSP will be around $300 at least.

oh cummon, ipod sales wouldnt drop!...to get your psp anything like an ipod, you would need atleast a 4gb card (out in november i think...along with the 8gb) AND the battery life is nowhere near as good..AND the psp is MASSIVE :D
