Most Pointless USB Gadgets

USB Port

On the run up to Christmas everyone is on the look out for cheap stocking fillers, we run through some of the most pointless USB gadgets for your loved ones PC or Apple Mac.

usb lava lampsUSB Lava lamps

USB lava lamps - Not really retro, not really cool, and quite naff, probably not the best thing to have near your PC when it decides to break too.

£7.95 @ Firebox

usb duck vacuum cleanerUSB duck vacuum cleaner

A vacuum cleaner to tidy up the bits of grot from your keyboard - with the duck's beak being the vacuum. Others have called it cute, we call it tat.

usb christmas treeUSB christmas tree

The geek christmas tree cycles through 6 different colours and plugs straight into a USB port so will work on the PC, mac or even a PS2

$11.99 @ ThinkGeek | £9.95 @ Firebox

usb thumb driveUSB Human thumb drive

USB drives or dongles are often referred to as thumb drives, this device however is actually a USB thumb drive! This is probably bought by cheesy people who think they are funny but really just p#ss you off. $89 at Dynamism.com

usb aquariumUSB Aquarium

$19.99 at ThinkGeek
Dimensions: 3.75" wide x 3.5" high x 2.5" deep - Probably a bit of a divide on this one, is this cool or tacky?

usb slippersUSB Slippers

Surely most people who wear slippers don't even know what USB is for a start, surely these are the most pointless so far though, to make things worse the cable doesn't look particularly long :)

usb ioniserUSB Ioniser

Being sold on eBay for £20 an Ioniser apparently promotes 'better breathing' by removing negative Ions from the atmopshere relieving stress and anxiety. Full blurb example on this eBay auction.

usb powered thermal wrist protectorUSB Powered Thermal Wrist Protector

So this device apparently helps prevent RSI (repetitive strain injury) - the more obvious choice is to stop oogling over as much porn on the PC. The device does come with an 80" extension cable which gives you that extra bit of slack!

usb pencil sharpenerUSB Pencil Sharpener
A flashing pencil sharpener - seems quite pointless if it has to be attached to the PC too, surely everyone uses web 2.0 sites for everything now :)

Great examples of tacky Gadgets at their best!

There's this "USB Massager" that definitely should be in this list.

Don't forget the USB Fondue set!

I liked the USB kettle i saw once-dunno how "hot" it would make yah tea though.
Good work fella.

The USB pencil sharpener is actually quite useful for me. I'm an accountant and use it when I do bank reconciliations.

Jamesey is right, the sharpener should be very useful for artists or other.

Haha! I just read a post like this a few days ago over @ http://shotoku.wordpress.com/, though the list was much shorter. Nonetheless, USB accessories must be getting alot of recog. with the holidays comin' up.

The Pencil sharpener is NOT useful; it's completely stupid. Why run a 200-300 watt power supply for your computer when a pencil sharpener needs about 3 volts? Ever heard of batteries you twits? Or even a pencil sharpener with a crank?

USB coffee cup warmer. Some idiot gave me this. (Doesn't work. Tried it on his laptop - no way will I plug it into my machine.)

The other nominee is this USB toothbrush.

freewebs.com/pointlessaudio put some of these on it

I have a USB powered Lava Lamp, was surfing at Starbucks with it plugged in and met my girlfriend that way, she really likes it. :-)

Fucking brilliant! Well done on compiling this list of utter shit. One day this crap will sell on eBay for zillions as a testament to how stupid we were in the 2000's.

How about keeping your beverage cool via USB? Rubbish.

No, the pencil sharpener is useful. USB is a a type of plug in this case, and able to power by laptop, computer, and DVD USB is a bonus, not the other way round. There are ton of AC to USB power adapter available now.

[...] This is a great list. Where do they come up with this crap? USB slippers! Gadget Spy » Gadgets » Most Pointless USB Gadgets. [...]

Other than the flashy lights the USB pencil sharpener would be very handy for some.

Not everything can be done on a pc, if the pc is running anyways why not use that interface especially on a seldom used device for most. Saves a power outlet for something else seems completely reasonable.

I totally love the human thumb drive! It is sooo funny!

There have to be more useless items out there

Go out and buy all for Christmas and next summer you can place in your yard sale and make a fortune

Why get your panties in a twist over someon elses choice of ways to spend their money? If you can get a smile or grin for a few bucks, go for it, it's cheaper than going to the movies and buying a coke and popcorn. Enjoy the technology!

the ioniser is the best of pointless products, at least the others have a physical ability, but the ioniser - I bet - is an empty plastic chassis with a USB port doing absolutely nothing!

any beef cutters

Ooh...how about..-USB VIBRATOR!-....sorry :(

there is a USB mouse floating around, why isn't this on there

is there a usb paintball gun yet?

I want a usb paintball gun

well theres the USB rocket launchers, i ran into one of those today

I really like the thumb usb drive, in a freaky kind of way. It's also pretty cheap and inline with the prices for the other kinds of drives.

Haha the lava lamp is great... I actually think the duck vac looks pretty nifty! Ionizer, slippers, xmas tree are all silly.. And the thumb drive is just creepy and seemingly overpriced.. What will they come out with next...!

Memory Foam Mattress

The USB slippers look great for my grandma. She is 70 and knows how to use a laptop better than some people half her age. That lead really does look rather short. I am going to have a look on Google if these are still available. These would be great for an unusual present.

thanks.

I like the USB Human Thumb Drive. Is is just ultimate. Who ever has design it must have a brilliant. It is an art brought out from a daily life word.

The USB Human Thumb Drive is great. It is just what we say "Thumb Drive".
