Turn your Nintendo DS into a WiFi controller
By budda on Monday, January 23rd, 2006 comments
The Nintendo DS homebrew community steps up a gear with this latest impressive piece of software. It turns your NDS handheld in to a wireless remote control for your PC, as well as a Wi-Fi network scanner.
The DS2Key software allows you to use the Nintendo DS buttons to control games on your PC, such as SNES emulator games.
Currently the touchscreen of the DS is left untouched. In the future using the DS as a universal remote control unit for your various pieces of equipment sounds like a great idea, with each one getting its own little virtual touch-screen interface.
In addition to the wireless controller feature, the DS2Key software also provides a great interface to scan for nearby Wi-Fi networks. Be sure to check out its 'Wardriving' section... which displays signal strengths, WEP status, MAC addresses and SSID's for neighbouring networks. Possible uses for this feature are checking signal strengths (it auto-refreshes) for your networks, looking for DS hotspots for on-line play.
There's little information about the app on the web, but if you've got a NDS capable of playing homebrew software you can download DS2Key now.
