Handheld Laser Pointer Used To Remove Skin Scaring

Published by Budda April 1st, 2006 in Gadgets, Fashion, Misc.

Wicked Laser

Handheld laser pointers have advanced since the days of the el cheapo red dots you buy whilst on holiday in Spain. There’s some pretty powerful devices out there, which fit in to the palm of your hand and emit an amazing amount of power. Dermatology surgeons have completed trials using commercially available laser pointers to correct skin scaring.

Trials carried out at New York’s Columbia Presbyterian Medical Center have proved successful at removing acne scars from patients face’s in under an hour.

The device used was a green 75mW CLASS 3B laser, available to the general public from wickedlasers.com for only $260.

Images of the work released show some change in the acne scared skin before and after the laser procedure.

The real news is that you can now cut out the middle man (and expense) of a surgeon and perform the procedure at home without the need for large and expensive equipment. A handheld laser pointer and a friend with a steady hand could be the answer to clearer skin.

RE: UPDATE: Okay, this wasn’t true. April Fool. I know on the net there’s a lot of scam’s etc, But do you not think joking aside that giving false hope is somewhat cruel ?
I came across your page after looking for Laser removal of tattoes & I personally know the expense and out of pocket expense having to travel many periods for such a task, I thought what a glimps of hope for those that cannot afford to travel or seeing though times are getting harder how nice it would be if they could have it brought to there homes without expensive overheads and no travelling costs by going mobile, I’m sorry but I just don’t see how you can find humour in such a statement. I must say I was very left feeling down by this reverlation of your site, what a waste of your time and the cruelty you must inflict, Yeah really seems a professional minded chap.
