Celebrities worried about HDTV exposing their ugliness

jodie marsh

Celebs have tried everything in the book to make them perfect on the big screen but looking bigger on camera is now the least of their worries. With the introduction of high-definition television (HDTV) pictures the A-listers are now more worried about their acne than the answer to the usual 'does my bum look big in this'

The Channel 5 newsreader Kate Gerbeau said "HDTV is not going to be forgiving in any way. Basically, if you've got bags under your eyes or wrinkles, you're not going to be able to get away with it any more. For the last few weeks in our makeup department we've started experimenting with make-up for HDTV.

One of the big things is we've been using an airbrush to apply the foundation, which looks like a dentist's drill."

Apparently looking at skin on screen in a standard format is like looking into a mirror whilst through HDTV it is like looking with a magnifying mirror.

Sky HD is already upon us, it will be interesting to see what the celebrity mingers do to combat this as they now need to worry even more about TV appearances aswell as the usual paparazzi hassle.

It would be great to see porn all over again just to see if we feel the same way as we did decades ago huh? What do you think folks?

Heres an easy solution to the makeup problem: stop using it. if these people are so worried about their image as a result of this, why are they on tv anyways? I always thought that people that are on tv had something worthy of being in the public eye, not some dolled up wannabes with no talent other than their fake image.

I say stop worshipping the fakes and falsehoods and allow those who ARE what they seem, not some fake thing with no talent. If they really had any talent, they wouldnt be worried about losing thier look it wouldnt matter, unless of course, thats the only reason theyre on tv in the first place.

Maybe this will be for the good, as people will see these people for what they really are. just people. trying to hide anything just results in their being found out eventually, if not through HDTV, than through various other ways. no way around it.

HDTV giving nightmares to ugly celebrities by exposing their real self

HDTVs, no doubt, add zing to our lives but on the other side of the coin they’re giving nightmares to the much adored celebrities that actually make us glued to the screen all the time. No, they’re not worried for their hot bods but for their wrinkles,...

LOL. I looooooove the pic. it's priceless. can't u just imagine Britnee Spears running around like a chicken with it's head cut off looking for the perfect make-up for HDTV? again, priceless. LOL. and no offense, but humor would have been perfect with this. it sounds like a documentary. a little bit of sacarsm or some tongue-in-cheek humor would have been perfect. i mean i love this blog but it needs a lil spice if u know what i mean.

i agree with ironhell completely. Paris Hilton, Britnee Spears, and all those other anorexic near-death looking girls out there who think they're hot cause they're celebrities need to take note. i don't even know why they're worried about HDTV anyway. they don't even look good.
as someone who is naturally skinny, i say, if you have to starve yourself to look god then give up. now don't get me wrong, i love Kirsty and what she's doing for herself, but she isn't anorexic. in fact she looks really healthy. Paris Hilton on the other hand, looks like half a toothpick with arms, legs, and a head (neever mind that there's empty space where her brain should be). a slight summer breeze could knock her across the sate of texas (and that is one huge state).

It's a nice thought, but it doesn't work that way. Makeup on television isn't just about making ugly people look prettier - as it often is, for instance, in real life - but rather about compensating for camera and lighting.

I completely agree with your premise: get rid of the fakes and flashoods and superficial inconsequentia of modern [well, not just modern] pop culture. But aside from the impracticality of this - I mean, it exists for a reason: it has a market - the makeup is not simply an icon of falsity, but also a necessary portion of theatre, film, and, yes, television. Unless you like everyone to look very blue and flat, in which case, absolutely, no makeup.

This is great, maybe now the ugly bitches will stay out of the movies. There is nothing worse than having to sit through something on tv that has a nasty ass hoe trying to act pretty. like that sex in the city shit, damm-that jessica bitch is ugly as hell, but at least she does not try to hide it. she is all "i'm ugly and i do not care" i mean it would be totally better if ugly hoes like here were not around, but if they are going to be there, they might as well not even try to look pretty.

What a load of bollocks. Slow news day obviously? With todays focus on celebrity and image -as opposed to talent- it wont make a difference anyway. All presenters and celebrities are chosen for their looks, and most of the time theyre honeys anyway. Who cares about HDTV?

It's about time.
