Nintendo Revolution Goes Wii

Published by GadgetSpy April 27th, 2006 in Gadgets, Entertainment, Consoles & Video Gaming.

nintendo revolution controller use

Nintendo have confirmed the news that the console formerly known as Revolution is now Wii - that’s pronounced “We” for those a little confused.

Nintendo have more news on their Revolution website, but the key questions of “When is it out?” and “How much will it cost?” remain unanswered, though EA Canada have some more information on what games available for the system will be like in an interview with Gamasutra.

But you’re probably asking: What does the name mean?”

“Wii sounds like ‘we,’ which emphasizes this console is for everyone. Wii can easily be remembered by people around the world, no matter what language they speak. No confusion. No need to abbreviate. Just Wii.”

“Wii has a distinctive “ii” spelling that symbolizes both the unique controllers and the image of people gathering to play. And Wii, as a name and a console, brings something revolutionary to the world of video games that sets it apart from the crowd.”

“So that’s Wii. But now Nintendo needs you. Because, it’s really not about you or me. It’s about Wii. And together, Wii will change everything.”

i am a true nintendo fan but i still think the name wii (wee) is stupid, revolution was much better, what exactly does wii mean.
im still gonna get the ‘wii’ for christmas though, even though it has a g@y name.
