Podcasting Support For Nokia Phones
Published by Budda June 21st, 2006 in Gadgets, Mobile Phones, Portable Audio, Audio, Internet.Nokia have released a new application for their Nokia N91 phone, and all 3rd generation S60 phones that enables easy access to the huge library of Podcasts out there on the Internet.
Podcasts are regular digital audio or video broadcasts that can be downloaded and played on mobile devices and personal computers. News agencies and other sources offer podcasts on a wide range of topics. Often podcasts are regularly updated in a series of new episodes, so users often subscribe to their favorite shows.
The Nokia Podcasting Application also allows you to play previews while tracks are downloading, download multiple podcasts simultaneously, and even multi-task while downloading in the background. Also, you can personalize the application by adding new podcasts and directories, share and import OMPL files, and interact via mobile Internet links to add comments to podcasters blogs or websites. Podcasts downloaded from the PC can also be transferred to the mobile device.
“By allowing you to subscribe podcasts directly to your Nokia N91, you no longer need to sit at your PC. Instead, you have access to a wide range of content in the palm of your hand.” said Tommi Mustonen, Director, Multimedia, Nokia.
The Nokia N91 handset includes a 4GB hard drive, 3.5 mm stereo headset jack, easy computer synchronization with Windows Media Player, dedicated music keys and wireless LAN support.
Downloading a podcast may involve the transmission of large amounts of data through your service provider’s network. So do make sure you know how much you will be paying per megabyte before you start trying out the new application! Podcasts can sometimes by 30MB or more! You’ll most likely make use of the application more if you’re on a 3G network to speed up the download — unless you sync the Podcasts from your PC.
The free application can be downloaded from www.nokia.com/podcasting.
