iPod FM transmitter sends RDS

iPod FM RDS

A new RDS FM Transmitter/Car Charger for the iPod works with the Radio Display System (RDS)-enabled car stereos to send additional data about the currently playing audio.

The device transmits artist and song title information from the iPod in addition to the sound.

Just like other FM transmitters for the iPod, the Kensington RDS FM Transmitter enables the iPod to transmit to your car or home stereo on an unused frequency. You can store three memory settings to tune into depending on your iPod's location. The iPod LCD can be used to display station information.

The RDS features specifically work with the iPod nano and video-capable (fifth generation) iPod models, and it obviously requires a stereo that supports RDS as well.

The FM transmitter is powered from your cars lighter socket, and is also capable of powering your iPod too.

Released later this month, you can get one for $89.99 from kensington.com
