VidaBox - The Touchscreen Mediacentre

Published by Budda November 1st, 2006 in Gadgets, Computing, Visual, LCD/TFT, Storage, DVD, Digital TV, PVR.

Vidabox

The VidaBox MAX is the billed as the ultimate home theater media center computer featuring a full color 7” LCD touch screen on the front of the unit to provide easy control of the Microsoft media center interface without having to turn on the TV or grabbing a remote.

The hardware features a great looking rack-mountable case, and a built-in multi-card reader, up to an incredible 3,000 GB of VidaSafe-protected storage, advanced video processing, two DVD recorders, or upgrade to universal disc compatibility with dual Blu-Ray & HD-DVD drives.

The VidaBox MAX is designed for homes that have smaller space constraints, and is ideal for those who have a dedicated media room, home theaters, or audio / video component equipment stands.

The unit includes support for all the MS Media center software features.

Because it’s running MS Windows Media center, you also get to do all the usual functions - like running MS Office, should you want to in your home theater environment.

The hardware includes

  • 7″ integrated LCD touch screen with separate on-off button
  • 750GB of storage as standard
  • 7.1 analog surround or optical digital output
  • Vidasafe™ storage technology that protects your data from potential hard drive failure (I suspect this is simply RAID hard disks)
  • Advanced cooling technology that provides nearly silent operation
  • Premium audio / visual component styling that will blend in seamlessly with even the highest quality Hi-Fi equipment.

Be warned, this great sounding unit isn’t going cheap! For a HDTV capable version you’re looking at $4,699

Looks great. Not sure why you would need 2 DVD recorders.
