Get Your Filth From Apple
Published by Budda December 3rd, 2006 in Computing, Apple Mac.An Apple customer was shocked when he bought a Macbook from the London Apple Store only to find it wasn’t so clean as he expected.
The Apple Macbook was sold as a “refreshed” item from the London Apple Store recently. A refreshed unit sells at a 15% discount from the usual price, so it was a tempting.
The MacBook was bought for the buyers 11 year old daughter, with confidence that he was buying in to the Apple brand and quality.
He was greeted with a shock when it was found that the MacBook’s OS X desktop was littered with pornographic jpeg images!
Rather than going back to the Apple store, who would probably just cover it up, the guy filed a complaint with the OfCom ombudsman and also contacted his local MP regarding the situation.
Sadly the guy who bought the MacBook formatted the laptop before there was any screenshot taken to prove the content was there. Is this complaint going to stand up?

No, it can’t hold up because, unless there is evidence, it is called an unsubstantiated claim.
If he had deleted without reformatting, they could access the evidence.
My guess is that this guy isn’t 100 percent innocent. He probably surfed porn, didn’t know he had saved the images on the desktop and then, rather than take the heat from his wife, tried to blame it on Apple. Knowing that he would be caught, he reformatted.
Now you are using the opportunity to get hits on your site with that Headline, just as despicable.
I love the hypocrisy of the last line of your comment.
If you feel the desire to sit and type a reply to the article then it appears it holds at least a passing interest for you.
Hit rate is not as important as bringing the consumer (you) the news we feel represents what the site is all about.
May I suggest you keep an open mind and if you find a story unsavoury then don’t read it.
The internet is about the free exchange of ideas and views and for this reason you won’t find censorship on Gadgetspy.
Gonzo.pete. Porn - not a problem for me. What I found despicable was his lame cover-up.
Publishing unsubstantiated claims as if it were newsworthy, problem. My apologies, I did not know this site was all about being the National Enquirer of gadgetry. There is a difference between censorship and choosing real stuff to write about. The headline was calculated specifically to garner hits, not exchange ideas. Carry on. I’m not trying to stop you, just pointing out alternative views.
Old news. Headline is misleading and placing blame on Apple. Many Unknow blogs use same tactics to get hits. Is okay I guess. The info was short and to the point. The headline is a problem if this site is to be taken seriously.
I dont belive it. Thats a bunch of crap, apple would never do that
