Apple's iPhone Details Leaked!
By budda on Monday, December 4th, 2006 comments
Not direct from Apple, but from a tipsy Kevin Rose on the Diggnation show. What's Apple delivering in the shape of a Phone this coming January?
The iPhoneâs features a touch screen control system, small form factor, slide-out keyboard (probably not QWERTY sized), 2GB and 4GB flash RAM sizes, and innovative dual-battery design. The dual batteries are to power the phone and audio player separate. With the battery usually contributing to the bulk of mobile phone weight these days it will be interesting to see how Apple avoid producing an iPhone small and heavy.
Apple is apparently adding both GSM and CDMA radios into the iPhone, making it truly carrier-independent.
According to Kevin there are two models, 4 GB and 8 GB, priced at $249 and $449.
There was no information about whether the iPhone will run a cut down version of OS X - only that it is "pretty cool". From the details leaked so far the iPhone sounds like a glorified iPod Nano with a phone bolted in.
