Cheaper Than The Movie It Plays
Published by Budda January 31st, 2007 in Gadgets, Visual, Portable Audio, Audio, Portable Video, DVD.A UK Supermarket retailer is now offering DVD players at amazingly low prices - so low that you could buy it and throw it away without thinking about it!
The Wallmart owned ASDA is to sell an entry level mini slim-line DVD player unit for less cash than new DVD movie releases cost!
The player is to be priced at just £9, demonstrating that gadgets have now become as disposable as an old shirt.
In addition to the DVD playback capabilities, the Durabrand box also works as a portable entertainment system: offering the ability to plays CDs and MP3 tracks. The size of the unit is so small that users can take it away and plug it into a TV whilst in holiday cottages or foreign hotels.
The Durabrand 1005 unit will initially be available in a batch of 80,000 across the UK ASDA stores.
Similar competition from the likes of Tesco and Sainsbury’s is to be expected in the coming months as the supermarket giants put more of a squeeze on the high-street retailers.

I just bought one of these from wal-mart it is a good value but I have run into the fact that it does’t play all dvd’s real well. I’ve had trouble with a few dvds playing poorly on it.
