Bone Conduction Headphones

Published by Gonzo Pete March 15th, 2007 in Gadgets, Portable Audio, Audio, DAB, iPod, Misc.

vonia

The Thanko Vonia Sports Headband brings you the music through bone conduction instead of the conventional in the ear speaker.

It works by sending out vibrations (via two bone conductive speakers near the temple) which are picked up by the auditory nerve. A concept which in itself must make for a strange experience as your ears themselves are still open to regular sounds.

A much safer alternative for joggers and the like as ambient noise i.e traffic and mobiles phones etc will still be audible.
Your eardrums will thank your for it as they are no longer in the path of your 150BPM industrial techno.

Expect to Pay around $85 (£43)
