Don't Forget Your Memory
By gonzo.pete on Tuesday, April 17th, 2007 comments
Here's another "why didn't I think of that" idea. Kingston has installed the first flash memory vending machine at Gatwick airport.
Kingston (partnered with MyMemory LTD) will be providing the most popular formats of card. Compact Flash, SD and also Datatraveler USB drives.
Ann Keefe, Director of Sales UK & Ireland at Kingston Technology believes that responding to customers needs has always been the key to Kingstonâs success,
âOur consumers are telling us they want greater storage capacity for their mobile phones, digital cameras and USB drives to store music, images, games, videos and personal data.â
She continues, âThey want instant access to SD cards and USB drives as they need them 24/7, so vending machines in public spaces was the most obvious solution. Weâre delighted to be working with industry leader MyMemory to meet this growing demand.â
I wouldn't be surprised if we started see these vending machines springing up in other consumer/traveler hotspots.

isn't that the guy from E.R. in the photo?
Cracking idea.
Is there really a vending machine need for memory? I would think most people can wait until they get to a regular store? no?
I saw this in Gatwick a couple of months back. Good idea but the prices seem alot higher than you would get on the net. I recently purchased a 2GB sd card from www.lowpricememory.co.uk . It was over half the price of the cost in the venidng machine. I do like the idea though just not the price.
yes I saw this too at Gatwick a few months ago. However the prices were quite high. I buy my memories for www.alcotek.co.uk. They seem to be very reputable guys and they offer free next day delivery.
