Paper-Thin and Flexible: The Speaker of Future Generation

paper thin speakerOver the years, trends in technology have favoured the thinner and the smaller. Bulky and hefty electronics were considered cumbersome and unappealing. As of late, designers make the thin even thinner to the point of being invisible. Take for example, these paper-thin, flexible speakers.

This speaker which looks like it won't survive half the day is capable of producing surround sound. The product is currently under further development by a Japanese company -- the picture you see above is an image of the prototype. I reckon we won't be seeing it hit the stores by 2008. Nevertheless, the implications of having paper-thin speakers in the market are huge. Just imagine having televisions thinner than a cracker.
