Robo-Dog: Helping Military Men Carry Their Loads
Published by Mariella Moon March 20th, 2008 in Gadgets, Robotics.
Has no one ever thought of how military men all over the world don’t only have to risk their lives in battle, but also have to have to carry their own stuff?
Unlike celebs with their own personal assistants, military men have to hand carry everything from their tents to their guns. The US Department of Defense decided to do something about it with a $10 million grant used to create a “a robot with animal-like strength, speed and mobility.” The result — the robotic Big Dog. The mechanical dog can reportedly travel or stand safely on steep slopes and ice, and can carry an impressive 154 kg load.
Watch the Big Dog in action below:

Wow, very impressive. This RoboDog really knows what he’s doing.

I saw this on the news today, it is very cool. I first thought it was a real animal. Amazing!!
I wonder if this can be bought into the domestic market? It’d be nice for someone to carry my shopping!
