Robocop Suit for the Differently-Abled

Published by Mariella Moon April 17th, 2008 in Gadgets.

HALWell okay. I admit. It won’t exactly make you strong enough to break anything other than crackers into two, and it definitely won’t make you a superhero.

BUT, this robot suit called “HAL” by Cyberdyne in Japan, can help the differently-abled or the elderly to stand on their own two feet. Yes, this suit is designed for medical purposes, so that people who can’t use their legs, could still stand. It’ll look a bit funny wearing that, but I bet a lot of people would prefer HAL over any wheelchair. The Cyberdyne plant in Japan will start operating in October this year, and it’s already currently looking at mass producing HAL 500 suits annually.

What a good idea, I’d love to know more about how the suit holds the wearer up without causing injury/discomfort
