Programmable Tattoo Shows Smileys on Your Skin

Published by Mariella Moon April 22nd, 2008 in Gadgets, Funny.

Programmable Tattoo1Imagine yourself going round your everyday routine without anybody disturbing you, just the way you like it, because you have an angry-faced tatto on your right cheek.

The programmable tattoo concept by Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute constitutes embedding a display below the epidermis of the skin, so that the “tattoo” would show on one’s skin. Nanotube-infused polymers are used as a”ink” which could be used to project display which you can change through the use of a display driver which gets the signal from a Wi-Fi network. This means that, in time, we could be walking social networking pages, complete with a “mood theme” on our cheeks, and a short bio written on another part of our body. I think I’ll pass.
