Lacie launches 500GB Rugged Hard-Drive

Published by Tiago April 23rd, 2008 in Gadgets, Storage.

LaCie Rugged 500GBThere is a new portable hard-drive on the market, made by LaCie and simply entitled as “Rugged”. The main difference that can be seen on the 2 new models is the connectivity options, but the price also goes up and down.

With that being said, the LaCie Rugged is a 500GB drive, that is suppose to protect the content in the inside (read data) by being shock+scracth resistant. In terms of connectivity, there is a version that only features the USB 2.0 interface, and a better one that includes FireWire 400/800 on top of the USB.

Prices of the new LaCie hard-drive go from £190 for the simple model, up to £230 in case you pick the FireWire version. As always, extra-software is part of the package, such as the Setup Assistant, and the “1-Click” software for backups.
