A2DP for your iPhone and iPod

RXS: Redshift has launched two brand new adapters which add Bluetooth functionality to phones and music devices.
The interesting one allows you to stream your favourite tunes from your iPhone (or iPod) through virtually any Bluetooth accessory including speakers, headphones and car stereos. The Bluetooth iPod/iPhone Adaptor enables Bluetooth connectivity for the iPod and iPhone.
- The Bluetooth iPod/iPhone Adaptor supports A2DP and AVRCP profiles. This means that you can stream music from your Apple device to your Bluetooth accessory. It also adds a remote control functionality so you can play, pause and skip tracks using your speakers or headphones.
- You can also connect to Bluetooth car stereos. Gadgets such as the iTrip rely on FM frequencies to broadcast music from your iPod and play it though your car stereo speakers. With the Bluetooth iPod/iPhone Adaptor you no longer have to rely on FM signals or suffer interference when listening to your iPod whilst driving.
- The Bluetooth iPod/iPhone Adaptor weighs just 4.5g, measures 43.5 x 15 x 6.6mm and sits neatly against your device. (This kit may be tiny but it has big advantages!)
- It works using the power from your device so there is no charging necessary.
- It has a working range of up to 10m and is available in black, white or silver.
RXS: Redshift also launched a similar device which hooks up to any 3.5mm headphone jack and provides the same A2DP functionality.

This is awesome! I love how they are merging all this new gadget technology. You got camera's, gps, internet, email and everything all in one gadget.

Sadly no pass thru power connector which means after a few hours of streaming audio, you will have a flat battery.... fundemental design flaw really as everyone knows the iphone drains batteries really fast anyway.... but a step in a right direction.
All we need is apple to open up genuine a2dp on their software and my car kit can do voice dialling again...

I want this in a dashboard mount with a GPS chip in it for the iPod Touch so turn-by-turn GPS software can be added along with bluetooth cellphone connectivity and a FM transmitter (standard features on modern GPS devices). Just clip in your iPod and you have turn by turn GPS, your music through your car stereo and hands-free phone calls. Are you listening, 3rd parties?

Pretty cool! I was searching for such a device for a long time. Now, I can use my iPhone as MP3-Player in my brand new car. Perfect! Thanks for the hint!
